Where It All Begins: Reflecting, Reconnecting, and Rebuilding Together Under the Leadership of Comrade Fahad LongmanThe first day of the Sokoto State University Alumni Engagement Summit 2026 was both productive and inspiring, bringing together alumni from different sets and locations to reconnect, reflect on shared experiences, and chart a course for the future of our alma mater.A major highlight of the day was the guided tour of the university, where participants assessed ongoing developments, achievements, and areas where alumni intervention can make a meaningful impact. It was encouraging to witness the institution’s continuous growth, including the construction of new hostel facilities and other infrastructural projects, which demonstrate the university’s commitment to progress and excellence. The summit also featured robust discussions on key issues affecting the Alumni Association. Deliberations centered on the association’s leadership structure, constitutional review, and the expansion of leadership representation to ensure broader inclusiveness across states and alumni chapters. Participants further reviewed the association’s achievements and explored strategies for strengthening collaboration, partnerships, and alumni-driven initiatives that will contribute to the advancement of the university.Day One served as a valuable platform for engagement, unity, and collective commitment toward the continued development of Sokoto State University. The enthusiasm, ideas, and resolutions shared during the sessions reaffirm the alumni community’s dedication to giving back and supporting the institution that shaped us.As the summit continues, we remain optimistic that the discussions and resolutions reached will translate into tangible actions and lasting impact for the benefit of present and future generations of SSU students.Together, we will continue to build a stronger alumni community and a greater Sokoto State University
