The Governing Council of Sokoto State University at its 31st Meeting held on Thursday 5th February, 2026 confirmed the appointments of Prof. Umar Ubandawaki and Prof. Sirajo Mohammed Sokoto as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration respectively.
Earlier, Members of the University Senate at a Special Senate Meeting held same day endorsed the nominations of the duo for the consideration and approval of the Council.
Prof. Umar Ubandawaki (DVC Academics) is a Professor of Political Science, Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
Prof. Sirajo Mohammed Sokoto (DVC Administration), a Professor of Arabic in the Department of Arabic, the Faculty of Arts.
