Kiɗa da waƙa na ɗaya daga cikin hikimomi da fasahohi da al’umma kan zaɓa ta tafiyar da rayuwarta cikin jin daɗi da annushuwa a kansu. Makaɗan baka na Hausa shahararrun makaɗa ne waɗanda suke shirya waƙoƙinsu a kan manufofi da matakai daban-daban. Waƙoƙi baka suna ƙunshe da manya da ƙananan saƙonni waɗanda ake ƙoƙarin cusa saƙonnin cikin zukatan masu sauraro. Gusau (2012, sh. 219) ya bayyana cewa waƙa wata aba ce wadda ake aiwatarwa a cikin harshe mai jan hankali tare da ba da damar yin tunani da kuma yin lura. Waƙa ta zama wata hanya ta sadarwa da tunani zuwa ga mazaunar al’umma a zanguna daban-daban da rayuwar jama’a takan shuɗe a kansu. Haka kuma ya bayyana cewa, a kowace al’umma a duniya akwai wani tsari da take amfani da shi wajen shiryawa da aiwatar da waƙoƙi domin tabbatar da maslaha cikin nasiha da faɗakarwa da samar da walwala a rayuwa. Gusau (2014,sh,1) ya kalli waƙar baka da cewa: wasu kalmomi ne na ƙulla da amsa da ƙari da azanci da kuma shirya kalmomi waɗanda suke nuni a kan matakai na bayyana waƙar baka ta Hausa. Manufar wannan takarda ita ce a fito da yadda maƙaɗi Kassu Zurmi yake amfani da wasu hikimomi wajen ƙulla zubi na waƙoƙinsa ta yin amfani da nassi da hadisai a wasu daga cikin ɗiyan waƙoƙinsa. Wannan ne ya sa aka ga dacewar bibiyarsu da nufin yin taƙaitaccen tarke a kansu. Wannan aiki an ɗora shi ne a kan ra’in Ƙawanci/ƙawa (Aesthetics theory)
